Kids & Cruelty - Uvalde Shooting

Kids & Cruelty

The Uvalde Elementary school shooting is extremely heart-breaking. Many young lives lost! While I was shattered when I read/heard the news, my mind constantly the motive of the shooter. Motives are important because they hold the clues to build a sane society of healthy bodies and minds.

I read the motive today - as usual and as always, the shooter has been "severely bullied". One might say, there's no need to go on a killing spree even though the shooter has been bullied. I agree but to be stable and sane with all that years of bullying isn't possible for all. And you read/hear/see the results. Please understand that not everyone is mentally strong to withstand pain and humiliation for year together.

I'm not supporting the shooter but I'm trying to address an extremely scary situation that's been developing with regards to our kids. Bullying tendencies in young children has been increasing by leaps and bounds. In other words, kids are becoming very cruel at a very young age, they are resorting to "happiness" in watching the suffering of some vulnerable kids.

Such vulnerable, sensitive kids scarred from a very young age have been resorting to violence, killing others and killing themselves. That story ends there. But what happens with the bully kids when they grow up? They will be on a spree to create suffering for more people, causing more emotional and at times financial/material destruction. Because they have grown up by seeking fun in bullying from a very young age.

Why do such young kids seek fun in bullying? There could be innumerable reasons like insecurities, family conditions, neglect, domestic violence, sexual abuse, emotional abuse by parents/siblings/family, parents showing frustrations on kids, the list could go on...

Whom do we blame here? Parenting is the most critical and crucial task in the world. Not everyone can be a parent. We aren't animals which just give birth and that's about it. Human life is complex and parenting isn't for all.

I wish there are laws and regulations when it came to parenting - I wish people need to get a court permit and undergo legal proceedings in order to become a parent. I wish just like background checks for employment, there should background checks for "parenting" as well! Sigh!
