This post is going is not going to be long. It's not about Ayurveda or any ancient medical modality as such, it's more of an attempt towards a thought-provoking topic.
Since more than a century, Western medicine has become quite popular and the most common medical treatment available in current day world. While I'm not debating about the medicine itself, I have one question for my readers. Before the question, I'd like to share an idea of "nature" which some folks might not be familiar with.
Nature, as some call it Mother Nature, provides us with food - many of us know this fact. How many know that Mother Nature also provides us with the necessary medicines that aid in the healing process of most diseases? These medicines are nothing but herbs, plants, clean water and clear air. Food is considered a medicine in ancient medical therapies. Now I will come to the question itself...
Why we are unable to identify the basic fact that Mother Nature who takes care of us by providing us with what we need, wouldn't have provided us with medicines and mechanisms to heal our sickness or disease? Do we realize how we ignorantly dump in many forms of synthetic drugs manufactured in the labs and prescribed by our doctors?
Many folks say they have a "scientific mind" and they don't believe in these pseudo-medicines or herbs. The so-called scientific mind, I assume, had never asked questions about the "air" they are breathing, "water" they are drinking - were they natural or synthesized in a lab? When the basic foundations of our life - air and water are provided to us by Nature, how unfortunate it is to blindly dismiss the fact that the same Nature can't or won't provide healing mechanisms?!
A scientific mind to me is NOT about blindly believing in the little discoveries science has made so far over the last century or more, but about being open to the vast amounts of knowledge out there and being open to experiment it and collect the relevant data. Earth has been here since millions of years and has this science what we know now, has been here since then or at least since past 5000 years? Many folks who claim they are rational/logical and have a scientific brain, in my observation are extremely irrational and ignorant by having a closed mind.
Mother Earth has an enormous & gigantic miracle pharmacy. Unfortunately, we think so highly of ourselves, we presume and assume that we are beyond anything and everything, and hence we only prepare and only believe in our "own & synthesized" medicines that have been formulated from our limited "scientific" knowledge stemming from our closed tiny brains!
When we have all the options in-front of us to cure a sickness for free or extremely low cost (even cases like COVID), instead if we resort to spending hundreds/thousands of dollars to get it cured, I'm not sure what to call it - ignorance or psychological weakness or both? Uh, the satisfaction we feel when we spend lot of money and triumph over a disease - that not only gives us lots of ego boost to our souls that we are so strong and are winners, but also reinforces the use of synthesized drugs. It's all a Catch20! If we end up spending $20,000 for a sickness that would've been cured by $20 or $200 max, and if we feel "WOW" because of this triumph - I don't know how to categorize it - Strength or Weakness? Ignorance or Innocence or both?
